The Home tab

Home is the first screen you see when you open WeiiGo. Janet greets you at the top, with a card to plan a trip and a list of your trips. Under them come your next trip, quick ways to get help, and any other cards you choose.

Your trip at a glance

See your trips on Home

Current & Upcoming Trips shows the trips you are on or have coming up, so you can open one in a tap.

1. Tap Home in the bar at the bottom.
2. Scroll down to Current & Upcoming Trips. It lists up to three trips you are on now or that are coming up, the soonest first.
3. Tap a trip to open its page. The Trips tab shows what is on it.
4. Tap See All to see every trip on the Trips tab.

Good to know

• Trips other people shared with you show here too.
• Once all your trips have ended, the title changes to Your Recent Trips and the list shows your three most recent ones. Archived trips never show here.
• With no trips at all, it says No trips yet.
• A trip with no cover photo of its own first shows a standard picture. WeiiGo then swaps in a photo of the place when it finds one. This happens for the first few trips on the list, and needs a connection.
• You can move this section or hide all of it in Edit Home (see below).
• The round person button at the top right of Home opens your Account page (the page More → My Profile opens), with a Back button to return to Home.

See your next trip

Before you leave, Home counts down to your trip and shows what still needs doing. The card sits inside Current & Upcoming Trips, under your trip list.

1. Tap Home.
2. In Current & Upcoming Trips, look at the Next trip card. It shows the trip's name, place, dates, how long it is and how many days to go.
3. Tap the card to open your trip.
4. Tap Know before you go to see what to sort out before you leave.

Good to know

• Home shows the trip you are on today. If you are not on a trip, it shows your next one. Once all your trips have ended, the card goes away.
• The card also shows the weather at your destination when WeiiGo has it. When that weather comes from Apple, the Apple Weather mark and a Weather data sources link show under it. Tap the link to see where the data comes from.
• If a passport or other travel document you saved expires soon or has expired, a card just below your trip tells you. Tap a document to open it, or tap ✕ to hide the card until tomorrow.
• With no internet, Home shows your last saved trips and says You're offline — showing your last saved trips.
• This card is on in a new Home. To hide it, take Current & Upcoming Trips off Home in Edit Home (see below). That hides the trip list too.

WeiiGo Pro — Pro also adds a safety score for your destination to the trip card. On Free, the card shows everything except the score.

Work through what to know before you go

Before a trip starts, Home can walk you through what to sort out, one item at a time, such as entry rules, phone networks, plugs and public holidays. It is on in a new Home, and it only shows for a trip that has not started and has something to show.

1. Tap Home.
2. Scroll down to the Know before you go card. It says which item you are on, for example "2 of 5".
3. Tap See details to open that item on the Know before you go page.
4. Tap Mark done when you have sorted it out, then tap Next for the following item.
5. After the last item, the card says how many are still to do. Tap an item to go back to it, or tap Review the list again. When every item is done, it says you're all set for your trip.

WeiiGo Pro — Pro adds the items written by Janet, such as what to pack and how to get around. On Free, the card still shows the rest, and the page has the full list.

Good to know

• Your Mark done ticks are saved on this phone, so the card remembers them. With Pro, the Entry requirements step follows the entry rules on your trip's checklist instead, so a tick made there shows here too.
• Do not want it? Take it off Home in Edit Home. It also goes away once your trip starts.

Follow your day while you travel

Once your trip starts, the card under Current & Upcoming Trips says which day of the trip it is. Add Today's plan to Home to see what is coming up next.

1. Tap Home.
2. Look at the Current trip card in Current & Upcoming Trips. It says which day you are on, for example "3 of 7 days".
3. Tap Daily briefing to read today's briefing in full.
4. Scroll down to Next Today for the rest of today's plans.
5. Tap Next Today to open your trip.

WeiiGo Pro — The Daily briefing card and the safety score for where you are now are Pro. On Free, Home shows your trip and Next Today without them.

Good to know

• Next Today shows once you add Today's plan in Edit Home. It goes in below your other cards. To see it sooner, drag it up in Edit Home.
• When nothing else is planned today, Next Today says Nothing scheduled for the rest of today.
• A plan with no set time shows Anytime and comes after the ones with a time.
• If your trip has a budget, the Daily briefing card also says what today's plan should cost and, once you add prices, what you have spent today. When tomorrow looks dearer than your budget allows, tap that line to ask Janet for a cheaper option. There is nothing to turn on.
• The safety score for where you are now needs your location. Tap it to see the details for where you are.

Plan your first trip

When you have no trips, Home says No trips yet under Current & Upcoming Trips and helps you start one.

1. Tap Home.
2. Under Plan Your Next Adventure, tap Plan a trip with Janet. Plan a New Trip opens.
3. Tap To and choose where you're going, then tap Travel Dates and pick your days.
4. Tap Plan with Janet. Janet checks your trip with you, asks a few more questions, and builds the plan. Your new trip opens while she works.

WeiiGo Pro — Plan with Janet is Pro. On Free, it has a Pro tag, and tapping it shows how to upgrade. The Trips tab explains how to plan a trip yourself and keep it without a plan.

Good to know

• Want to look around first? Tap Import sample trips, then Import. WeiiGo adds ready-made trips you can explore. Trips you already have stay as they are.
• Finish setting up takes you back to the first-time setup. Tap ✕ on the card to hide it for good.
• These two cards sit just under Current & Upcoming Trips until you have a trip coming up. Then they move to the bottom of Home.
• You can also start a trip from New trip on the Trips tab. It opens Explore Destinations, where you browse places and plan the trip step by step.

Plan a trip with Janet or by hand

At the top of Home, under Plan Your Next Adventure, one card starts every new trip: Plan a trip with Janet.

1. Tap Home.
2. Tap Plan a trip with Janet. Plan a New Trip opens.

3. Choose Round trip, One way or Multi-city. For more than one place, choose Multi-city and tap Add stop.
4. Tap To to search for a place or browse. Tap a place and it fills in To. (Explore Destinations lower down opens the browser, and its Next button goes on to plan the trip step by step, like New trip on the Trips tab. Only To brings your pick back to this form.)
5. Tap Travel Dates and pick your days. Set From, Travelers and Traveling with a pet? if you like. In From, search for a city or an airport.
6. Tap Plan with Janet to plan the trip in a chat with Janet. She checks your trip with you, asks a few more questions, and builds the plan.
7. Or, under Or plan manually, tap Flights, Hotels or Cars to search for that part of the trip yourself.

WeiiGo Pro — The card and Explore Destinations are free. Plan with Janet, Flights, Hotels and Cars are Pro. On Free, they have a Pro tag, and tapping one shows what Pro includes and how to upgrade.

Good to know

• A trip can be up to 30 days long. For a longer stretch, a message asks you to choose a shorter one.
• Plan with Janet needs dates. Until you pick your own, the form shows a week starting a week from today. If you have not chosen a place, Janet asks you for it in the chat.
• With Traveling with a pet? on, Janet asks if it is a dog, a cat or a ferret, and adds the pet's travel rules to your trip where she can find them.
• The Ask Janet page explains the planning chat step by step.
• In Edit Home this card is called Plan a trip. You can take it off Home there. It always stays at the top.

Quick help from Home

Use the quick actions

Shortcut buttons let you reach help, your health details and a translator in one tap, from anywhere in your trip. You choose which ones, and their order (see below). With more than four, swipe the row sideways to see the rest.

1. Tap Home and scroll down to Quick actions.

2. Tap Emergency SOS to open the SOS screen. Nothing is sent yet.

3. On that screen, press and hold the button only if you need help. Your trusted contacts are then alerted in the WeiiGo app, and by SMS, WhatsApp or email if you turned those on for them. SMS also needs their own OK: WeiiGo texts them only if they ticked Text me WeiiGo safety alerts in the WeiiGo app, when they accepted your invite or later, or allowed texts in the WeiiSafe app.

4. Tap Travel with Pets to read the entry rules for traveling with a pet, and what to sort out before you travel.

5. Tap My Health Card to open your Health Card. It is the same page as More → My Health Card.

6. Tap Translate to open the translator. It is the same page as Tools → Translation.

7. To change the buttons, tap the pencil on the card (or More → Settings → Home page → Customize Quick Actions). Add as many of the sixteen as you like: the four above plus Medical Facilities, Trusted contacts, Ideas, Currency Exchange, Weather, Emailed Bookings, Share Live Location, Travel Dashboard, Check-In Timer, Around You, Ask Janet and Find a Veterinary Clinic. Press and hold one and drag it to change the order, or use its up and down arrows. You always keep at least one.

WeiiGo Pro — Translate is Pro (so are Ideas, Currency Exchange, Emailed Bookings and Ask Janet). On Free, it has a Pro label, and tapping it shows Upgrade required instead of opening the translator.

Good to know

• If you leave the SOS screen without pressing and holding, no one is alerted. Tap Cancel to go back.
• If you hide Quick actions in Edit Home, the other ways in stay: SOS on Safety, your Health Card on More and the translator and Travel with Pets on Tools (under More tools). If Travel with Pets is not one of your buttons, it is still on Tools, or tap the pencil to add it back here.

Ask Janet from Home

Janet is WeiiGo's travel assistant. The card on Home is a quick way to ask her a question about your trips (past, current or upcoming). To plan a new trip, use Plan a trip with Janet at the top of Home, then Plan with Janet, where Janet asks the questions. To change one trip, open it and tap Janet - AI.

1. Tap Home and scroll down to Ask Janet.
2. Tap Ask Janet a question to chat with Janet about any of your trips. The page opens as Ask Janet a Question.

WeiiGo Pro — Janet is Pro. On Free, the Ask Janet card does not appear on Home. If your Pro has ended, you can still tap Ask Janet a question to read your past chats, but not send new questions.

Good to know

• There is more about chatting with Janet on the Ask Janet page.

Notifications

Read your notifications

Your notifications list shows trip activity, contact invites and safety alerts, sorted into sections: Needs attention for unread alarms, one section for each of your trips, and Other. Repeats of the same notification fold into one row.

1. On Home, look at the bell at the top, left of the round person button. A red number shows how many you have not read.
2. Tap the bell.
3. Tap a notification to open what it is about, such as the trip or the invite.
4. Tap Mark all read at the top of the list to clear the unread count.

Good to know

• A dot beside a notification means you have not read it yet.
• Pull down on the list to check for new notifications.
• You can also open this list from More, then Settings, then Notifications.

Hide or delete a notification

Hide a notification to tidy your list. Delete it when you never want to see it again.

1. Open Notifications.
2. Swipe a notification to the left.
3. Tap Hide to move it out of your list, or tap Delete and then Delete again to remove it for good.
4. To hide or delete a whole day, tap Hide or Delete beside the day's name, then confirm.
5. To hide everything, tap Hide all at the top of the list, then Hide all. To delete everything, tap Delete all, then confirm.
6. To bring something back, tap Show hidden at the bottom of the list, then Unhide.
7. Tap Back to notifications to return to your list.

Good to know

• Deleting cannot be undone, and Delete all and a day's Delete ask you first. Hiding can be undone.

Choose what Home shows

Show, hide and reorder the cards on Home

Add the cards you want, take off the ones you do not use, and put your favorites near the top.

1. On Home, scroll to the bottom and tap Edit Home.
2. Under More Items, tap a card to add it to Home, for example Today's plan. It goes in at the end of your cards.
3. Under Included Items, tap the red minus beside a card to take it off Home. It moves to More Items.
4. To move a card, press and hold it, then drag it up or down.
5. Tap ✕ when you are done. Home has already changed behind the sheet.

Good to know

• Plan a trip (the card under Plan Your Next Adventure) is fixed at the top of Home, so it comes first in the list and carries a pin. You can take it off Home and add it back, but not move it.
• Current & Upcoming Trips (your trip list, your next trip's card and its setup cards) is one card. You can move it, or take it off Home to hide all of it. When it only has past trips, its title reads Your Recent Trips.
• A new Home shows Plan a trip, Current & Upcoming Trips, Ask Janet (with Pro), Quick actions and Know before you go. Today's plan, Current location safety, Travel Dashboard and Daily Hint wait under More Items until you add them.
• Import sample trips also carries a pin. It is always last, or just under Current & Upcoming Trips while you have no trip coming up.
• If you take every card off Home, WeiiGo puts Current location safety back, so Home is never empty.
• Hiding a card only changes what Home shows. Your trip, your plan and your safety alerts all keep working.
• These choices are saved on this phone only.

Add your travel chart to Home

Home can show a chart of the days you have traveled each year, at home and abroad. It is off until you add it.

1. On Home, scroll to the bottom and tap Edit Home.
2. Under More Items, tap Travel Dashboard.
3. Tap ✕. The Travel Dashboard card is now on Home.
4. Tap the card to open your full Travel Dashboard.

Good to know

• The card shows up once you have travel days to count. Until then, Edit Home says Your completed trips will show up here.

Get a daily tip about WeiiGo

The Daily Hint card shows one short tip about the app each day. It is off until you add it.

1. On Home, scroll to the bottom and tap Edit Home.
2. Under More Items, tap Daily Hint.
3. Tap ✕. The Daily Hint card is now on Home.
4. Read today's tip on the card.
5. Want to try it? Tap Go there to open the part of WeiiGo the tip is about.
6. Want another one? Tap Next.

Good to know

• You get a new tip each day. The tip you chose with Next stays until tomorrow.
• Go there shows only when the tip has a page to open. A tip about part of a trip needs a trip showing on Home.
• If that page needs WeiiGo Pro and you are on Free, Go there wears a small Pro label, and tapping it shows the upgrade message.
• Tips come in the language the app uses. A tip not yet in your language shows in English.
• A tip about a WeiiGo Pro feature wears a small Pro label beside Daily Hint. If you are on Pro, the label does not show.
• If you are offline before today's tip has loaded, the card does not show. It comes back once you are online.
• You can also turn the card on in Settings, under Home page.

Change Home from Settings

Settings has the same choices as a list of switches, and a way to start again.

1. Tap More, then Settings.
2. Under App, tap Home page.
3. Turn a card's switch on to show it on Home, or off to hide it. The Preview at the top shows the result.
4. Scroll down to Order and tap the up and down arrows to move a card. Plan a trip stays at the top, so its arrows are grayed out.
5. To start again, tap Reset to default, then Reset.

Good to know

• Under Order, the page reminds you: "Import sample trips is always last — or just under Current & Upcoming Trips while you have no trip coming up."
• Reset to default brings back a new Home: Plan a trip, Current & Upcoming Trips, Ask Janet (with Pro), Quick actions, Know before you go and Import sample trips. Cards you added, like Today's plan, Travel Dashboard or Daily Hint, are hidden again.
