The Trips tab

Trips holds every trip you have: the ones coming up, the ones you have finished, and the ones you put aside for later. From here you plan a new trip, open a trip to see its days and its guide, and add or change what is on each day.

Your trips

See your trips

Open Trips to see what is coming up and how soon it starts.

1. Tap Trips in the tab bar at the bottom.
2. Tap Upcoming, Completed or For later at the top to switch lists.
3. Read the line under the tabs, such as 2 trips planned · Next in 18 days. On Upcoming, trips are grouped by month, soonest first.
4. Tap a trip card to open it. See Open a trip.

Good to know

• Each card shows how soon the trip starts above its name (In 18 days, Tomorrow, Today or In progress), and the trip's status (Planning, Confirmed or Tentative) as a small label in the top corner. A trip WeiiGo is still building says Creating. A plan Janet made for you that you haven't accepted yet says Pre-Planning. Open it to accept it, change it or discard it.
• A trip WeiiGo is still building also shows a small robot on its card. Tap it to open Know before you go for that trip. If a build fails, the card says so under the name, such as Itinerary couldn't be created · open to retry, Some days couldn't be planned · open to retry or Itinerary couldn't be created · dates may be too short. Open the trip to fix it.
• Every upcoming trip you can edit has a row of small icon buttons under its card: a picture frame plays the trip as a slideshow, a circle with a tick opens Steps, a plane is Find a Flight, a building is Find a Hotel, a page with an arrow is Upload booking, and sliders are Edit. They have no words, but a screen reader says each name.
• The plane, building and page buttons need WeiiGo Pro. On Free they do not show. The plane and the building stay until the trip starts, even when the trip already has a flight or a hotel, so you can add another. They wait until WeiiGo has finished building the trip. The page button shows only on a trip you made.
• Tap the sliders, Edit, to change the trip's name or dates or, on a trip you made, to archive or delete it. A trip shared with you to view only has no buttons. A suggested plan from Janet has none either, until you accept it.
• Tap the picture frame to play the trip as a full-screen slideshow of its places. If there is nothing to show yet, it opens the trip instead.
• Tap the circle with a tick to see how far along the trip is. See Follow a trip's progress.
• Pull the list down to refresh it. With no signal you see your last saved trips and a note that you're offline.
• On Completed, tap a finished trip to open it, then look back on it. See Look back on a finished trip.
• Trips shared with you show who shared them, such as Shared by and a name.
• With no trips coming up, Upcoming says No upcoming planned trips yet. Tap New trip to plan one.

Follow a trip's progress

The Steps page lays out nine steps from starting a trip to leaving, shows which you have done, and takes you to the next one.

1. On the Trips tab, tap Upcoming.
2. On the trip's card, tap the circle with a tick, Steps.
3. Under the bar, read Step N of 9 to see the step you are on, then tap Continue to go there.

Good to know

• WeiiGo ticks steps off for you from what is on the trip, such as money spent against a budget, a booking document or a ticked-off checklist. You can do them in any order, and the step shown is the first one not done yet.
• You can also tap Done on the step you're on to tick it off yourself. Your ticks are kept on this phone, and there is no undo.
• The page is blue on Free and purple on WeiiGo Pro. On Free, step 2 (having Janet build the itinerary) is marked Skipped on Free, and you fill in the days yourself at step 3. On Pro, a second button, Ask Janet, opens a chat about the step.
• Departure day, step 9, only becomes your step once everything before it is done and the trip starts within 24 hours. It has no Continue button; it tells you which reminders you will get.
• With no signal, you see the nine steps with a note, Couldn't load your progress. The steps are shown without it. Tap Try again when you're back online.

Planning a trip

Pick where you're going

Start a new trip by choosing a place from the guides, or search for any city or country.

1. On the Trips tab, tap New trip at the bottom of the screen. Explore Destinations opens.
2. Tap the search box (Search city, country...) and type a place, or tap a pill such as Popular or Beaches to browse.
3. Tap a destination's photo. Its guide opens, with tabs about the place such as About, Local knowledge, Photos and Map.
4. Tap Next at the bottom. Plan Your Trip opens, so you can pick your dates.

Good to know

• Home's Plan a trip with Janet opens Plan a New Trip instead, where you pick the place and dates first. See The Home tab.
• On the guide's Local knowledge tab, tap Before You Go for quick facts about the place, such as plugs, emergency numbers, money and language.
• Tap the heart on a photo to save a place. Places you save show under the Saved pill.
• A place that is not in our guides can still be planned. Pick it from the list that appears under your search when no pill is narrowing it. Trip details opens straight away.
• Tap a pill such as Beaches, before or while you search, to see only matches of that kind. If nothing matches, tap it again to search everywhere.
• If you go back to Explore Destinations after picking a place, a pill at the top shows the trip so far. Tap it to open Trip details.
• To have Janet plan the trip with you, tap Plan a trip with Janet on Home, choose the place and dates, then tap Plan with Janet. It needs WeiiGo Pro.

Choose when you're going

Pick the days of your trip before you fill in the rest.

1. Under When do you want to go to …?, tap Start Date and pick the day you leave.
2. Tap End Date and pick the day you come home. Or tap Select Dates and pick both days on one calendar.
3. To change how long you stay, tap − or + beside Trip Length.
4. Tap Next. Tell me about your trip opens.

Good to know

• Until you pick your own dates, WeiiGo suggests some, starting a week from today, in lighter text.
• When you move the start date, the end date moves with it, so the trip stays the same length.
• A trip can be up to 30 days long.
• Tap Back to go back to Explore Destinations and pick somewhere else.

Tell WeiiGo what you like

Say how you like to travel, so the plan suits you.

1. Under Travel Style, tap Relaxed, Balanced or Active.
2. Under Budget, tap Economy, Mid-range or Luxury.
3. Under Group Size, tap Just me, Couple, Family or Friends.
4. Under Interests, tap everything you enjoy. Tap one again to untick it.
5. Tap Next. Review Your Trip opens.

Good to know

• For Family or Friends, tap − or + beside Travelers to set how many are going, from 3 to 10.
• Some interests may already be ticked for you. If none is ticked, the button reads Choose at least one interest and waits until you tick one.
• Tap Back to change your dates. Your choices stay as they are.

Check your trip and create it

See everything you picked in one place, then have Janet build your day-by-day plan.

1. Check the place, the dates and your choices on the card. To change one, tap Back.
2. Leave Include Air Travel on to have Janet plan your flight, and Include Lodging on for a place to stay each night. Turn one off if you have it covered.
3. Tap Create My Trip. The button reads Janet is planning your trip… while it starts.
4. If you are flying and WeiiGo thinks your dates are too short for the trip there and back, it asks Dates may not work. Tap Continue to go on anyway, or Cancel to change your dates.
5. Your new trip opens straight away. While Janet builds the plan, it says Janet is building your trip, and it fills in when she is done.

WeiiGo Pro — On Free, Create My Trip has a Pro tag and tapping it shows how to upgrade. To keep the trip without a plan, tap Save Trip Dates / Destination.

Good to know

• Tap Save Trip Dates / Destination to keep just the place and dates, with no plan. You fill in the days yourself.
• Janet adds a flight only when she knows where you fly from. Set a Default airport in Settings, under Planning Defaults.
• You can leave once the plan has started. WeiiGo tells you when it's ready. Tap Back on your new trip to reach the Trips tab, where it is on Upcoming.
• If WeiiGo can't start your plan, a line above the button says so. Tap Create My Trip to try again.
• If you went on past the dates warning and the plan then fails, the trip says We couldn't finish this itinerary. Your dates may also be too short for this trip. If so, adjust them and plan the trip again. This is remembered on this phone only.
• There is a limit on how many plans you can create. WeiiGo tells you when you reach it.

Set dates and travelers, then build your plan

Tell WeiiGo when you're going and who is coming. Then let WeiiGo write a day-by-day plan, or save the trip and fill it in yourself.

1. Under When, check your dates. Tap Start or End to change them.
2. Under Who, tap + or − beside Travelers to set how many people are going.
3. Under Getting there, tap Flying, Driving or Neither. If you fly, tap the box under Flying from and pick a place or an airport. If you drive, type where you're Driving from.
4. Tap ✦ Create trip plan, choose what you like in Customize Your Plan, then tap ✦ Create. If you are flying and the dates look too short, you see Dates may not work. Tap Continue to go on, or Cancel to fix them.
5. Or tap Save trip to keep just the place and dates.

WeiiGo Pro — On Free, ✦ Create trip plan is grayed out with a Pro tag and tapping it shows how to upgrade. Save trip works on every plan.

Good to know

• Building a plan takes a little while. You can leave the screen: the trip shows on the Trips tab as it is built, and WeiiGo tells you when it's ready.
• There is a limit on how many plans you can create. WeiiGo tells you when you reach it.
• If you have set a Default airport in Settings, under Planning Defaults, Flying from starts filled in with it. Tap it to pick a different airport for this trip.
• When you fly and pick an airport, WeiiGo looks for a flight and adds it to your plan, with the first and last days planned around it. If it finds none, you still get your plan, just without a flight.
• If you have set a Preferred airline in Settings, WeiiGo picks that airline's flight when one fits your budget.
• In Customize Your Plan, tick Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner under Skip these meals when you have them covered, such as breakfast at your hotel. WeiiGo leaves those meals out.
• Tap Change on the place at the top to pick somewhere else. Your dates and travelers stay as they are.

Keep a dream trip for someday

Save a place you would love to visit, with a rough time, and turn it into a real trip when you are ready.

1. On the Trips tab, tap For later.
2. Tap Dream trips, then tap New dream trip.
3. Type a Name, then tap the Destination box and pick a city or country. Tap Remove to clear it again.
4. Under When, pick a range such as Within 1 year or 5+ years. Then set How long and Travelers, and tap a Pace.
5. Tap Save.
6. When you are ready, open the dream and tap Plan it. Trip details opens with these details filled in, and the dream stays here.

WeiiGo Pro — On Free, tapping Dream trips shows how to upgrade.

Good to know

• You can also set a comfort level and a Budget, or link one of your idea collections under Someday collection.
• Under What if…, tap Add a what-if to try another time, length, party or budget without changing the dream. Tap Use this on one to swap it in.
• Once you have planned a trip from a dream, it shows Planned with an Open the trip button.
• Deleting a dream does not delete the ideas you saved with it.
• If your Pro plan has ended, you can still read your dreams, but not change them.

Find trips you already took in your photos

WeiiGo can look through your photo library for past trips and add them to your trips. Your photos never leave your phone.

1. On the Trips tab, tap Completed. With no finished trips, tap Find trips in my photos. Otherwise open Tools and tap Find trips in my photos.
2. Tap Look through my photos and allow access to your photos when your phone asks.
3. Wait while WeiiGo scans. Tap Stop if you want to stop.
4. Under Trips we found, tap Preview trip to look at one first.
5. Type a Trip name if you want a different one, then tap Add to my trips.
6. Tap Not a trip on anything that is not a trip.

WeiiGo Pro — On Free, tapping Find trips in my photos shows how to upgrade.

Good to know

• If you only shared some photos with WeiiGo, it says so and shows Add more photos. Trips outside that choice won't show up.
• With no access, tap Open settings to turn photos on for WeiiGo.
• Trips show up as soon as they are found. A trip may show only its dates at first, then its place name a moment later.
• When you add a trip, the places and times your photos were taken are saved with it, so the trip's map shows where you went. The photos stay on your phone.
• Tap Check for new photos later to find newer trips.
• If nothing is found, tap Adjust what counts as a trip to change how long and how far counts as a trip.
• Merge with previous, Split in two and Fix the grouping change how photos are grouped into trips.

Inside a trip

Open a trip

Each trip has its own page, with the trip at a glance and a way into everything else.

1. On the Trips tab, tap the trip's card. The trip opens, with a photo at the top.
2. Read the card under the photo: the trip's name, its dates and how many are going.
3. Tap Itinerary to see your plan day by day.
4. Tap Janet - AI to ask Janet to change this trip.
5. Tap Local knowledge for a guide to where you're going.
6. Scroll down to Trip Overview to see how many days, activities and restaurants the trip has.
7. Tap ⋯ at the top right for Trip itinerary, Trip Tools, Share trip, Trip settings, Archive or Delete. Trip Tools opens the same list as the Trip Tools button on the trip itinerary.

WeiiGo Pro — Chatting with Janet needs WeiiGo Pro. On Free, the Janet - AI tile has a Pro tag and tapping it shows how to upgrade.

Good to know

• A trip you open from Home opens on this page too.
• Under the card, the Departing from pill shows where the trip leaves from. It is the place you set for the trip, or else your Home. If you have set neither, it says Set where you're departing from. Tap it to change it: on a trip that flies you pick an airport, on any other trip a place. You see the pill on trips you own or can edit.
• If your itinerary already has a first stop on day 1 and a last stop on the last day, picking a different place moves them. WeiiGo asks first: Move the stops on your first and last days to your new place**? This replaces any place you changed on those stops.** Tap OK to move them or Cancel to keep things as they are. With no such stops there is nothing to ask.
• Under the pill, Add to itinerary puts that place on the itinerary as the first stop of day 1 and the last stop of the last day, on any trip. Tap it once. It only shows while a stop can still be added: not for a stop that is already there, not for a day that has passed, and a one-way trip gets the first stop only. It goes away when there is nothing left to add. If WeiiGo can't add them, you see Couldn't add the stops to your itinerary. Please try again.
• Tap SOS to open the Safety page, the same one as the Safety tab. Opening it alerts no one. See The Safety tab.
• When Janet planned the trip, the line under the dates also shows its budget level, such as Moderate budget. Trip Overview shows an Estimated budget when the trip has a budget saved.
• Trip settings opens Edit Trip, where you change the trip's name and dates. It shows on a trip you can change, once it is no longer a suggestion.
• While Janet is still building the trip, you see her progress in place of Trip Overview. The ⋯ button holds Trip itinerary and Trip Tools then; the rest of its rows come back when the trip is ready. See Watch your trip being built.
• If she can't finish, you see We couldn't create this itinerary. Tap Try again. If you went on past the dates warning, it adds that your dates may be too short. Change them with Edit Trip, then plan the trip again.
• A plan Janet suggested shows a card with Accept, Make changes and Discard. Tap Accept to make it your trip. Tap Make changes to tell Janet what to change, in your chat with her about the trip.
• Share trip, Archive and Delete show only on a trip you made, and Share trip goes once the trip is over.

Look back on a finished trip

When a trip is over, its page swaps the planning tiles for ways to remember it.

1. On the Trips tab, tap Completed, then tap the finished trip's card.
2. Tap Recap to read a written summary of the trip.
3. Tap Photos to see the trip day by day, with your own photos placed on it.
4. Tap Map View to see where you went as pins on a map.
5. Tap Itinerary to read the plan again.

WeiiGo Pro — Recap and Photos need WeiiGo Pro. On Free, Recap shows a Sample summary and a way to upgrade, and Photos asks you to upgrade.

Good to know

• On a finished trip the Janet - AI, Local knowledge and SOS tiles are not shown. The Completed list also shows your totals, such as Trips, Days and Places, and a My Travel Life link.
• Tap Share your recap on the recap to send it to friends as a picture.

Watch your trip being built

Janet builds a long trip a few days at a time, so you can read the first days while she plans the rest.

1. Open the trip while it says Creating on the Trips tab.
2. Read the card under the trip, such as 3 of 7 days ready. It first says Janet is sketching your trip.
3. Tap Itinerary to read the days that are ready.
4. When the card says Finishing touches, the last step has started.
5. If some days fail, tap Retry failed days on the card.

Good to know

• A day in the itinerary that is not ready says Janet is still planning it. A day that failed says This day couldn't be planned.
• While Janet builds, some trip actions wait until she is done, such as Notes, Share trip and Documents.
• You can leave. WeiiGo tells you when the trip is ready.

Look through your trip day by day

Each trip has a plan for every day, with your flights, stays and activities in time order.

1. Open the trip and tap Itinerary. It opens on Day.
2. Tap a date at the top to see what's planned that day.
3. Tap Agenda to see every day in one list. Tap a date to scroll to it.
4. Tap Map to see the trip's places on a map.
5. Tap a stop to open its details.

Good to know

• With no trip picked, the page says No active trip. Tap Plan a trip or View upcoming trips.
• Day starts on today while you're on the trip, and on day 1 before it.
• A day with nothing on it says Nothing planned yet. Tap Add a stop to add something yourself. Or tap Ask Janet to plan this day: choose how many activities and restaurant meals you'd like and any meals to skip, then tap ✦ Create, and Janet fills the day in the background. You get a notification when it's ready. It needs WeiiGo Pro: on Free it has a Pro tag and tapping it shows how to upgrade.
• Map shows the places that have a spot on the map, and moves to the day you picked. With none, it says No locations to plot.
• Tap Trip Tools in the bar at the bottom for Saved Places (it opens Places I loved), Budget and, on a trip you made, Documents. Documents needs WeiiGo Pro: on Free it has a Pro tag and tapping it shows how to upgrade.
• On a trip you drive, day 1 begins with a stop for where you leave from, and on a round trip the last day ends with one too (a one-way trip has only the first). Any other trip gets them when you tap Add to itinerary on the trip's page. Tap one, then Change place, to pick another place. It says Home (with a house icon) only at your saved home; anywhere else, such as an airport, it shows that place's name. On a trip shared with you to view only, these stops show just the day, the time and Home, Departure or Arrival (not where they are), with no Change place; people who can edit the trip see the place.
• On a trip shared with you to view only, a note at the top says so and who can change it.
• The same page is where you add stops, move them and plan routes. See Open the full trip itinerary.

Read up on where you're going

Your trip comes with a guide to the place: what to know, manners, safety, getting around, food and weather.

1. Open the trip and tap Local knowledge. Destination Guide opens.
2. Tap a topic, such as Know before you go or Food & dining.

Good to know

• A topic shows only when WeiiGo has something for your destination. Weather & best time shows when your trip is close enough for a forecast, or when WeiiGo knows the best time to go. It opens the best time to visit and, once your trip is near, a day-by-day forecast under Your Trip's Forecast.
• Local knowledge and More about open the same guide you see in Explore Destinations. Safety opens the country's safety page.
• Know before you go is free to open, but some parts of it need WeiiGo Pro.

Open the full trip itinerary

The full trip itinerary keeps everything on one page: adding things, moving them between days, routes and more.

1. Open the trip and tap ⋯ at the top right.
2. Tap Trip itinerary (the Itinerary tile opens the same page). It opens on Day, with one day at a time.
3. Tap a date in the strip to pick a day.
4. Tap Agenda to see every day in one list, or Map for the trip's places as pins.

Good to know

• Tap a stop to open its details. For a place WeiiGo found on Google Maps, the details have Hours & access. Tap it to see opening hours, parking and wheelchair access. To move a stop to another day, press and hold it, then tap the date you want.
• Add stop and Trip Tools are in the bar at the bottom. Trip Tools holds Budget, Checklist and Documents (on a trip you made), Saved Places and Notes. You see only the ones you can use on this trip. Share trip and Trip settings, where you change the trip's name and dates, are in the ⋯ menu on the trip's page.
• Between two stops, a row such as Plan a route shows how to get from one to the next. Tap it for directions. The row shows only when both stops have an address or a spot on the map. On Free, tapping Plan a route opens the route planner: walking, driving and cycling routes are free, and public transport is part of WeiiGo Pro.
• The ⋯ menu at the top right of this page has more for the trip, such as Map view, Trip ideas and Know before you go. Notes is under Trip Tools. Share trip is in the ⋯ menu on the trip's page.
• With WeiiGo Pro, a trip with a budget shows a summary at the top of the page, with how much you have spent of it. Tap it to open Budget. On Free, the summary does not show.
• On Pro, a trip with no budget shows Set a budget there if you can edit the trip. Tap it to open Budget.

Add something to a day

Put a meal, a visit or anything else on your plan yourself.

1. Open the trip's full itinerary. See Open the full trip itinerary.
2. Tap the day you want.
3. Tap Add stop in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap Enter an activity manually.
5. Type what's planned under Activity.
6. Check the Day of trip and tap a time, such as Evening.
7. Tap Save activity. It appears on that day.

Good to know

• Tap Flight or Lodging at the top of the form to add a flight or a hotel stay instead, with your confirmation number and price if you have them.
• When you add your flight out to a trip that has not started, WeiiGo moves any activities planned before the flight lands to Trip ideas, and moves your first hotel check-in to the time you land. It tells you when it does. Bookings stay where they are. Find the moved activities under Trip ideas in the full trip itinerary's ⋯ menu.
• On a trip someone shared with you as view-only, Add stop does not show.

Change or delete something on your plan

Fix a time, rename a place, or take something off the day.

1. Open the trip and tap Itinerary.
2. Tap the item. Item detail opens.
3. Tap View/Edit details.
4. Change what you need, such as the title, the time under When, or the address.
5. Tap Save. You see Changes saved.
6. To remove it instead, scroll to the bottom of the edit form, tap Delete, then tap Delete again to confirm.

WeiiGo Pro — Suggest something else and Suggest different day & time ask WeiiGo for a fresh idea. On Free, tapping them shows how to upgrade.

Good to know

• Tap Maps to get directions to the place, or Web to open its website.
• A place WeiiGo found on Google Maps can show a photo at the top, with the name of the person who took it.
• If the same activity repeats on other days, WeiiGo asks whether to update those days too.
• On a shared trip, someone else may change the item while you are editing it. WeiiGo tells you and keeps what you typed. Tap Save again to replace their version, or go back to see theirs.
